SUMMER CAMP

Activity Areas

Each camper experiences an individual journey while at Al-Gon-Quian, choosing activities of interest, developing independence and exploring the world. On Sundays campers are given the opportunity to choose their own activity schedule for the week. Al-Gon-Quian has a variety of activities areas so that every camper is bound to find something he or she enjoys.  Campers can choose from the following:  archery, swimming, sailing, riflery, woodshop, canoeing, drama, nature, basketball, volleyball, football, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, lacrosse, arts and crafts, newspaper, dance, music appreciation and fishing. Campers are also given free time during the day to go swimming, hang out with their friends and play group games while being supervised by our caring staff.  All campers also have the opportunity to climb our 50 foot climbing tower and try our zip-line.

Leadership Programs

Leader-in-Training (LIT) (Ages 15 and 16)

This two-week program allows campers to build their leadership skills and get a taste of what it is like to be a counselor while still participating in all of the activities of a camper. The LIT program is a blend of workshops, supervised opportunities to assist with younger campers, a special off site trip, service projects and their favorite camp activities. This value-based program offers teens positive role models, encourages the development of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring and provides other valuable skills that will last a lifetime. This unique program is catered specifically to those mature teens that are interested not only in finding out more about themselves, but also in learning what it takes to work as a group and be a leader. The LIT program is offered during sessions 2, 3 and 4. Applicants will be permitted to attend one LIT session per summer only.
